Featuring artists Lora Mouna, Julian Drummond, Queen Goddess Lilac, and The Palestinian Youth Choir, who will share their songs of resistance and inform us how we can take action.

Songs of Resistance, in partnership with Keepsake House, is thrilled to present a benefit show for the Omija. Featuring artists Blue Jay, Jae.ci, and Sunia Won, who will share their songs of resistance against the international adoption industry.
The Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) is a grassroots, independent movement that organizes Palestinian and Arab youth to struggle for Palestinian liberation. PYM draws from Palestinian revolutionary history, where the participation of youth in the national struggle has been central in leading and sustaining the struggle to liberate the Palestinian people and land from the river to the sea.
Flyer art is created by Shruthi Thyagarajan. Shruthi is a Manhattan-based digital designer, musician, and writer. She can often be found on Letterboxd a little too often, writing long reviews about every film she watches. Though she primarily works in digital mediums, she's eager to explore new ones - and always excited to meet other artists along the way!
Songs of Resistance is a semi-monthly concert series led by Jae Carelli that organizes artists to ignite real change.
ARTISTS
Julian Drummond
Julian Drummond is a pianist and Javanese gamelan musician from Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has performed extensively across the Northeast from Surry, Maine to New York as a collaborator and soloist, as well as with some of the renowned Javanese musicians alive today, including Darsono Hadiraharjo, Peni Candrarini, Wakidi Dwidjomartono, and I.M. Harjito. Julian’s piano teachers have included Armine Donato, Konstantinos Papadakis, Jonathan Bass, and Gilles Vonsattel. While wearing many different hats as a musician, Julian has at times found himself engaged in political organizing, disinfecting a COVID testing facility, and assembling a basketball court one 280-pound piece a time. Julian enjoys strong coffee, cooking, and old reruns of The Simpsons.
Lora Mouna
Known for her diary-like confessional songwriting and haunting vocals, the Brooklyn-based Syrian-American artist Lora Mouna uses music as a vessel to capture moments of vulnerability within herself and her relationships. Her music reflects on shadow work and healing, flowing between indie-rock, folk, and Middle Eastern sounds while intertwining the sonic influences of her culture and inspirations. From a young age, Lora was inspired by hearing her Syrian mother sing and play piano, later developing a voice shaped by both her cultural roots and years of opera training before ultimately finding her home in indie rock. In 2025, she made her music festival debut and released her debut EP, phases of becoming, a project born out of conversations with herself and her mental health. Most recently, she completed a tour supporting Jhariah, bringing her evolving sound to new listeners while stepping into the fullest realization of her artistic identity through a body of work that embraces every part of who she is.
Lora was a 2025 Keepsake House Artist in Residence and has previously performed in the Keepsake House shows Long Story Short, Fingerprints, and From Story to Song.
Queen Goddess Lilac
Queen Goddess Lilac expresses their feeling of being foreign-born through soundscapes, beats, poetic lyrics, and catchy, melodic, pop-esque, folk-inspired songs. Inspired by their Mexican upbringing and the literal alienation of immigrant life, they unpack humanity's flaws and burdens by laying their heart on the table and letting it flower.
The Palestinian Youth Movement NYC Choir
The Palestinian Youth Movement NYC Choir is a project of the Palestinian Youth Movement that works to preserve Palestinian culture, history, and the spirit of resistance through music. This choir not only serves as a platform for performance but also as an educational space where members deepen their understanding of Palestinian heritage and the socio-political context in which the music emerged.
More than a collection of music, the choir’s sets are an act of cultural resistance, a defiance, ensuring that the world not only hears Palestine but feels its unbroken spirit. Each note carries conviction; every lyric is a map of return.
